James^7 Van Wicklen
(Daniel^6,
John^5. Jacob^4, Garret^3, Gerrit^2, Jentie^1 Jeppes), b. 1843, NY
Married: Caroline Foster Price on 26 June
1867, Manhattan, NY
Children:
1. Clarence^8 Van Wicklen, b. abt
1868, Brooklyn, Kings, NY (There is a Clarence Van Wicklen,
age 41, in 1910 US Census for Koscuisko St.,
Dist 481, Ward 23, Brooklyn, Kings, NY married 20 years, b.
NY (NY,NY) retail milk sales and delivery, with wife Margarette,
35, M-20, b. NY (NY, NY), 1 child, 0 living. This could be this
Clarence except he cannot be located in any other census other than 1870 and
1910.)
2. Florence^8 Van Wicklen, b. abt 1869, Brooklyn,
Kings, NY
3. Emmanuel^8
"Friend" Van Wicklen, b. 20 June 1875,
Brooklyn, NY
4. Ella^8 Van Wicklen, b. 25 August 1878, Brooklyn, Kings, NY
5. Andrew^8 Van Wicklen, b. 3 September 1881, Brooklyn, Kings, NY
(By
1910 US Census, 5 of 6 children are reportedly no longer living. There is
considerable confusion as to the names and ages of some of these children. For
example, the 1870 census reports a one-year old son, Clarence, but the 1880
census reports no Clarence but does report an 11 year old daughter named
Florence. Other sources report a child named "Friend" b. 1875, yet
the 1880 census reports a child named Emmanuel b. 1875. Andrew does not appear
in the 1900 US Census when he would be 18, so he is either out of the house or
deceased. The question remains as to which one of these children was still living
in 1910.)
Parents:
James' parents are Daniel
and Hannah (Cheshire) Van Wicklen
Caroline's parents are Artemus and Sarah L. Price

James' wife Caroline is the
one who d. Flushing 189-; they had one child "Friend" Van Wicklen, b. 20 June 1875 at 354 Smith St, Brooklyn (There
is both information to support this and to question it. In 1900 US Census,
James is listed without Caroline but he is listed as "M" (married).
In 1910 we find James and Caroline, ages 67 and 65 respectively. Perhaps they
were separated or she was out of the household for some other reason?)
